Obiettivi formativi
Gli obiettivi formativi sono di fornire le conoscenze relative al Regolamento (UE) n°995/2010 (EUTR o Timber Regulation) sul divieto di immissione e commercializzazione di legname "illegale" (e prodotti a base di legno) nel territorio dell'Unione Europea, con particolare riferimento allo sviluppo di un Sistema di Dovuta Diligenza previsto dal Regolamento stesso.
The training objectives are to provide the knowledge concerned the implementation of a Due Diligence System according to EU Regulation n° 995/2010 (EUTR or Timber Regulation) on the contrast to the introduction and marketing of "illegal" timber (and wood-based products) in the European Union.

Acquisizione dei fondamenti per la gestione di un Sistema di Dovuta Diligenza (SDD) conforme al Regolamento (UE) n°995/2010 (EUTR o Timber Regulation).
Conoscenze e capacità di comprensione
L’insegnamento fornirà gli strumenti per:
- Capire su quali basi è fondata la legalità nel commercio del legno e derivati
- Comprendere i processi e i meccanismi secondo i quali possono verificarsi attività illegali
- Capire come determinate procedure possano prevenire i suddetti fenomeni
Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate
Al termine dell’insegnamento, si potrà essere in grado di:
- utilizzare efficacemente, anche ai fini professionali, le conoscenze tecniche sui principali prodotti a base di legno e sul loro mercato, sui processi di tracciabilità e trasformazione, sulla normativa di settore e sui sistemi di certificazione della filiera legno
- Impostare una valutazione del rischio di immettere sul mercato UE legname di provenienza illegale
- Interpretare con autonomia di giudizio quanto serve per documentare la legalità del legname importato da Paesi extra-UE
Autonomia di giudizio
Al termine dell'insegnamento verrà acquisita la capacità di impostare, in piena autonomia, un Sistema di Dovuta Diligenza finalizzato al soddisfacimento dei requisiti del Regolamento EUTR.
Abilità comunicative
Al termine dell'insegnamento si potranno sostenere con chiarezza espositiva le scelte adottate ed utilizzare un'appropriata terminologia tecnica e scientifica

Acquisition of the fundamentals for the management of a Due Diligence System (DDS) in compliance with Regulation (EU) No. 995/2010 (EUTR or Timber Regulation).
Knowledge and understanding
The course will provide students with the tools to:
- Understanding the basis on which the legality in the trade in wood and derivatives is based
- Understand the processes and mechanisms by which illegal activities can occur
- Understand how certain procedures can prevent the aforementioned phenomena tackling illegality in the marketing of wood
Applying knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course, students will be able to:- effectively use, even for professional purposes, the technical knowledge on the main wood-based products and their market, on traceability and transformation processes, on sector regulations and on certification systems for the wood supply chain
- set up an assessment of the risk of placing illegally sourced timber on the EU market
- Interpret with autonomy of judgment what is needed to document the legality of timber imported from extra-EU Countries
Making judgments
At the end of the course, students will be able to set up, in full autonomy, a Due Diligence System aimed at satisfying the requirements of the EUTR Regulation.
Communication skills
At the end of the course, students will be able to clearly support the choices made and use appropriate technical and scientific terminology

Modalità di insegnamento
Il laboratorio si avvale di presentazioni, registazioni, documenti, forum e filmati atti a consentire ai partecipanti di organizzarsi al limite anche in maniera autonoma per la fruizione della didattica.
Le lezioni verranno svolte in presenza.
Nella piattaforma Moodle verranno resi disponibili sussidi didattici sotto forma di videoregistrazioni e/o presentazioni audio delle lezioni; esercizi da svolgere e ulteriore materiale di approfondimento i cui contenuti potranno essere discussi attraverso forum e/o durante le lezioni.
Durante il laboratorio, verrà assegnato un tema progettuale da sviluppare individualmente o in gruppo tramite una relazione tecnica. Nella fase di preparazione dell’elaborato il docente resta a disposizione per un eventuale confronto e per fornire chiarimenti o ulteriori informazioni ritenute utili.
Obiettivo dell’ambiente di apprendimento è offrire continuità tra i diversi momenti della didattica e tra le relative attività in remoto e in presenza/videoconferenza.
The lab is based on presentations, registrations, documents, forum and videos allowing the participants to organize themselves in order to take advantege independently of the training process (if necessary).
Lessons will be carried out in the presence.
Teaching material will be made available on the Moodle platform in form of video recordings and / or audio presentations; exercises to be carried out; in-depth teaching aids that can be discussed through a forum and / or during lessons.
During the lab, students will be assigned a design theme to be developed individually or in groups through a technical report. In the preparation phase of it, the teacher remains available for a possible comparison and to provide clarifications or useful information.
The objective of the learning environment is to offer continuity between the different teaching moments and between the related activities done remotely and in presence / video conference.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Durante le lezioni, il docente sottoporrà una serie di domande, senza valore per la valutazione finale, utili per stimare il livello di apprendimento e l'efficacia della formazione erogata.
L'esame finale, svolto in presenza (o in collegamento video tramite Webex nei casi previsti dalla normativa), consiste nella presentazione orale e discussione di una relazione tecnica, da sviluppare individualmente o tramite lavoro di gruppo, su argomenti preventivamente assegnata agli allievi e comunque trattati durante il corso; questa dovrà permettere di verificare anche le capacità di ragionamento e di collegamento tra le conoscenze acquisite, nonché l'uso di una terminologia corretta.
During some lessons the teacher will ask students with a series of specific questions, no valid for the final evaluation, in order to verify the level of learning and the effectiveness of training.
The final exam, made in presence (or in video conference by Webex as allowed by UniTo rules), consists in an oral presentation of a technical report, to be developed individually or through team work. The report will concern a topic preliminary assigned to the students that deals with subjects faced during the course; the consequent discussion will allow to verify the problem solving skyll and the capability to link the acquired knowledges, together with the use of a proper terminology.
